Spotted: The WinePod at Cava Wine Bar in Capitola!
Meet Zach and Cliff, owners of the Cava Wine Bar in Capitola, Calif., and our newest WinePodders. These two are wine enthusiasts of the kind we like: fun, laid-back . . . a couple of interesting guys who really know how to have a good time with a glass of wine.
Zach and Cliff have been nice enough to host the WinePod at Cava for anyone in the Monterey Bay area to go and see. (If you’re not from Nor Cal, Capitola is a great little beach town that neighbors Santa Cruz. You can read more about it by clicking here.)
As is typical with most of our WinePodders, Zach and Cliff describe themselves much better than we ever could, so we thought we’d pull a couple of lines from their web site:
ZACH
Known as “the glue” of the Cava operation, Zach can often be found at Cava alone listening to the Grateful Dead while his partner is off networking with a shot of Fernet.
Zach was born in Cleveland, Ohio decided to move to New York City, then decided to move to San Francisco, then decided to move to Capitola after Cliff talked him in to it . . .
Zach’s current favorite song is the one that plays when Monday Night Football starts.
CLIFF
The more Cliff brings up “almost scoring a goal” when he was 6 the more it is apparent: he has turned 41 and has no idea what is going on . . .
When Cliff is not out catching those mongo waves (with his 13ft. titanium reinforced aircraft carrier), he will be found talking some poor unsuspecting French hitchhiker into an under-priced bottle of wine. But be careful: Cliff chafes at being told a wine is good if you don’t like it . . .
Currently his favorite song is “Rawhide.”
If you’re interested in meeting either of these colorful characters, drop by Cava, where you’ll find plenty of personality and some great wine to boot. While you’re there, check out the WinePod they’ve so kindly put on display. (They may even let you play around with it, if you ask nicely.)
Oh yes, one more thing. Zach and Cliff are hosting a Club Ferment virtual winemaking class with the WinePod at Cava sometime in the near future. Details are still being worked out, but if you’re in the area and are interested, contact them to find out more.
